Sejarah PIKA
Kebun Kaju
was found on March 25th 1953 at Imam Bonjol street number 96 Semarang. Mission
of Kebun Kaju handled repairing and production wood furniture for Catholic
schools , Church and Monastery. Pioneer of Kebun Kaju was
Br. Joseph Haeken SJ.
Br.Paul Wiederkehr SJ
from Swiss was wood expert ,came to Kebun Kaju on May 30th
1963 with main goal to start building the woodworking school.Base on letter of
confirmation from Kanisius College on Nov 10th 1968 ,by way of trial test school
with a name
STKK ( Sekolah Tehnik Kebun Kaju)
and 2 years long practice.
On July 30th 1971
with permission from P.Prvinsial, STKK name has been changed to
PIKA ( Pendidikan Industri Kayu Atas)
. PIKA divided in two units school (Workshop school one) and production line
(Workshop school two).After some periods PIKA name to be
SMTIK (Sekolah Menengah Teknologi Industri Kayu)
with (4)four years education. At 1973 Level II (two) was opened with two (2)
years long education. Since 1985 has been decided that level II will be opened
every two years time, because tough selection making only few graduate student
from level I can go to level II.
Target from level I (four
years education) is getting Skilled people
to operate the woodworking machine and
from level II getting Production
Manajer.
At 1991 has been opened wood
seminar program in PIKA for employee,carpenter or SMK Indonesia's teachers.This
program was called "Pusat
Pelatihan dan Pengembangan Industri Kayu" (PPPIK)
Training center and wood Industry development.
At 1992 was born
"Lembaga Pendidikan Desain Interior" (LPDI)
with 2 years long education and 20 students every grade.These students graduated
from high school and technical school with special talent in drawing. The Aim of
this learning to get right people between Architect and carpenter in reading
drawing and wood construction well.
At 2000 level II got name
"Lembaga Pendidikan Manajemen Industri
Kayu" (LPMIK) PIKA and the student
from graduated PIKA level I and alumni PIKA level I with special test. Total
students only 12 - 16 every grade . Learning time is 2 years.
On June 5th 2000 Br.Paul
Wiederkehr SJ to hand over the leadership of PIKA to Y.Joko Tarkito SJ alumni of
PIKA level 8 to be director of PIKA and A.Warno Tribowo SJ as vice
director.
That is and will be continue
